With the 2011 Bridal Season around the corner, myself and other Bridal retailers are obsessed with the latest trends and silhouettes in wedding gowns.

After pouring over Todays Bride, Weddingbells,The Knot, and meeting with a half dozen of the industries leading reps (and most importantly listening to all my brides) this is what I'm predicting for 2011. It will be a year of contradictions - softer fabrics, less embellishment, more fit and more flare.

Scroll down to check out one of our stores most popular gown lines Alyce designs.

In fabrics we'll continue to move towards charmeuse satins and away from taffetta - my clients are showing an increased interest in organza overlays and ruffled skirts. Less embellishment and beading and a greater focus on fit. Pick-up skirts will still be present but the taffetta whipped cream look of past seasons will be replaced with soft asymmetric draping and ruffling.

Dresses will be fitted to the hipline and below the old mermaid silhouette has become the new "fit and flare". The sweetheart remains the bodice shape of choice. Lots of asymmetric one strap looks (which began last season and will continue 2011) but I'm
finding most of my brides just aren't feeling it.

Here's an synopsis of what we'll be seeing 2011:

    • asymetric ruffles

    • side gathered bodices

    • more interest in white

    • one-shoulder trumpet shaped dresses

    • fan-pleated bodices

    • drop waists

    • lots of floral details

Now you know what the so-called experts are saying, but I want to hear from all the 2011 Brides. What do you like best in the new gowns and what will you be buying for your own special day? I'd love to hear from you at thepropertopper@gmail.com

Watch for our future wedding trends updates for Bridesmaids, Moms and even Accessories.
